New Thought
(inglés: Nuevo Pensamiento).

Movimiento de sanación mental que surgió en EE.UU. en el s. XIX. Su primer exponente, Phineas P. Quimby (n. 1802–m. 1866), era un mesmerista que enseñaba que la enfermedad es mental. New Thought fue influenciado por filósofos que van desde Platón hasta Emanuel Swedenborg, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel y Ralph Waldo Emerson y a su vez influyó en la Ciencia Cristiana de Mary Baker Eddy. La International New Thought Alliance (Alianza internacional del nuevo pensamiento, formada en 1914) sostiene que el pecado y la enfermedad emanan del pensamiento erróneo. Los grupos New Thought se centran en Jesús como maestro y sanador y proclaman que su reino está dentro de cada persona.
